Assistant Coach Christie Curran

Coach Christie Curran is in her first year of coaching at Esperanza HS and is a student teacher in the Language Arts department. She is a graduate of El Dorado High School where she ran cross country for four years and was voted M.V.P. all four of those years. Christie also ran her Freshman Year of college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and trained with the Esperanza Cross Country team the summer before college to prepare to run with the team at Cal Poly. Following her first year of college, Coach Curran took a break from organized running. However, she continued to run regularly throughout college and participated in 5k and 10k races.

Coach Curran graduated from Cal Poly in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Social Science. She worked as a substitute teacher and an Early Interventionist in San Luis Obispo for two years following graduation. Last fall she moved back to Orange County to begin working on her teaching credential at National University. Coach Curran is currently student teaching with Mr. Perez and Ms. Newell at Esperanza High School and plans to finish her Teaching Credential in Language Arts by February 2011. She has enjoyed working with the beginning runners this summer very much and is looking forward to an exciting season of running with the girls and helping them continue to improve!
